E.10 REMOVING OFF-WHITE PATINAS
the cause of this problem. The off-white patinas are damage caused by the damp from inner layers on the wall, which dissolves certain lime components from the binding mortar that then form a patina. You can see them most clearly on the edges of the tiling on the pillars in this corridor.
The stages involved for solving this problem have been as follows:
- Stage 1: inspection of the area to be treated.
- Stage 2: start of work by applying a specific paint stripper for removing off-white patinas.
- Stage 3: gentle rubbing with natural bristle brushes made of plant material to mix in the specific product for removing off-white patinas.
- Stage 4: removal of the product mixed with the patina.
- Stage 5: final finish.
